Our Team

John P. Thorsen, Retired

John P. Thorsen graduated from Florida State University in 1967 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Business with a Major in Accounting.

From 1968-1971 Mr. Thorsen served on the audit staff of Deloitte & Touche, LLP (formerly Haskins & Sells) as a Senior Accountant, In 1971 he joined Imperial Industries, Inc. as its chief financial officer and a member of its Board of Directors a positions he held until 1975 when he formed his own CPA firm specializing in accounting, auditing, management and financial advisory services, income taxes, and litigation support services including forensic accounting service and fraud investigation.

In addition to his practice as a certified public accountant Mr. Thorsen held concurrent positions as:

  • Investigative consultant to the Florida State Board of Accountancy, Department of Business, and Professional Regulations
  • Special Master to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court
  • Instructor of Continuing Professional Education for the Florida and American Institutes of CPAs
  • Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer position in several commercial enterprises

In addition to the CPA credential Mr. Thorsen held credentials as a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Forensic Accountant and was a member of various public and forensic accounting professional organizations.

Ana Maria Crucet, CPA

Ana Maria Crucet is a licensed certified public accountant in the state of Florida having passed the CPA exam in a single sitting and receiving her certificate on April 29, 1993. Ms. Crucet graduated, Magna Cum Laude, on September 15, 1991 from Barry University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a major in accounting. She has been a member in good standing of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants since June 7, 1993 and of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since July 31, 1993.

Ana has been in the accounting field since 1977 initially as a full charge bookkeeper until October 1980 for various small businesses. She then joined the firm of John Phillips Thorsen, P.A. as a junior accountant, advancing to senior accountant, manager and then effective January 1, 2007 became a partner and shareholder in the firm Thorsen and Crucet, P.A.

Ana is in charge of the financial reporting, and income tax services practice section of the firm as well as its quality control system and peer review. Accordingly Ana is in charge of the firm's audits, reviews, compilations, tax planning and preparation including individual, partnership, corporate, estate, gift, and profit sharing plans.

Ana also assisted Mr. Thorsen in numerous litigation matters including but not limited to Business Litigation, Damages, and Lost Profits Calculations.

Maria C. Macias, CPA

Maria C. Macias is a Certified Public Accountant with 25 years of experience in the field of accounting. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from St. Thomas University in 1987. Maria began her career in the accounting field by working as a bookkeeper while pursuing her accounting degree.

Maria joined the public accounting firm of John Phillips Thorsen, P.A. as a junior staff accountant in 1988. She pursued her studies and became a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Florida in 1990.

Since then she has continued to develop and hone her skills, knowledge, and experience in the areas of accounting, taxes, and auditing and progressed to the position of senior accountant with an emphasis in the audit and tax preparation functions of the firm.

Maria also gained experience in the area of support litigation by assisting the senior partner, John Phillips Thorsen, CPA/CFF, CFE, CrFA, with the preparation of several judicial matters pertaining but not limited to, damages and profit calculations.

Maria is a native of Cuba, raised and educated in Miami, Florida and is fluent in English and Spanish.
